Dante Gabriel Rossetti

General Description

Scholarly Commentary

DGR seems not to have met the poet Arthur O'Shaughnessy (1844-1881) until mid-1870 (see Correspondence, 70. 222, 233-235 ). O'Shaughnessy is perhaps best known for his “Ode” (“We are the music makers”), published in Music and Moonlight (1874).

A general commentary on DGR's limericks and their context is available.
