WMR was the first to publish this fragment of latin. Because of its relation to a savage poetic epigram DGR wrote,
probably about Buchanan, WMR read it as “intended for a hexameter, but, as any one can see, it will
not scan” (see his note in his edition of 1911, where the text was first published).
No manuscript of the line is known.
