Barberino, Documenti d'Amore, 46-47.
Editorial glosses and textual notes are available in a pop-up window. Line numbering reflects the structure of the The Early Italian Poets Text.
This is Part 15 of the “Sotto Docilità” section of the
d'Amore of Francesco da Barberino (1264-1348). DGR's source text
was Ubaldini's 1614
edition. For further commentary see DGR's note in
Early Italian Poets and the
editorial commentary for DGR's translation of an
excerpt from Del reggimento e de'costumi delle donne,
also by Francesco. DGR translated four short portions of this long work.
Probably late 1840s.
The translation was first published in 1861 in
Early Italian Poets; it was reprinted in 1874 in
and his Circle.
