Scholarly Commentary


King René is facing left, seated on a chair. He wears a gold robe with a floral pattern and red lining. The Queen stands behind him wearing a green robe and white head-covering. The King is painting a maiden in a landscape while steadying his wrist with his other hand.

Production History

One of four glass panels depicting King René's Honeymoon. The others are Music , designed by DGR, Architecture , designed by Ford Madox Brown, and Sculpture , designed by Edward Burne-Jones.
